The aSIEMmetry consortium has completed its Year 1 Review Meeting, marking an important checkpoint in the development of the project’s AI-powered capabilities for next-generation Security Operations Centres.
The online review brought together the three consortium partners: Expertware, Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate. The session focused on the overall status of the project, progress achieved during the first implementation period and the activities required for the next development phase.
Reviewing the technical direction
A central topic was the development of the AI-based multi-agent technology used to model IT assets and their behaviour. This component is essential to the project’s security-entropy approach, which aims to identify significant deviations across systems monitored through SIEM environments.
The review also examined how the different technical components relate to one another. The multi-agent model, data-processing pipelines and specialized LLM SOCagent must operate as a coordinated system rather than as isolated research outputs. Maintaining clear interfaces between these components is therefore a priority for the next stage.
Aligning timelines and work packages
The consortium revisited the project timeline and assessed progress across ongoing work packages. This alignment helps ensure that research, development, integration and validation activities remain synchronized and that dependencies are identified early.
The next phase will place additional emphasis on technical integration, model training, validation scenarios and the operational requirements of SOC teams. The project must demonstrate not only that its AI models can identify anomalies, but also that their outputs can be understood and used effectively by analysts.
Maintaining a shared project direction
The Year 1 Review reinforced the importance of collaboration between technical, academic and institutional partners. Expertware contributes implementation and platform expertise, VUB supports the research and AI components, while DNSC provides knowledge connected to cybersecurity operations and national resilience.
With the first project year completed, aSIEMmetry is moving forward with a clearer view of the remaining technical objectives. Collaboration, measurable progress and operational relevance will remain central as the consortium develops scalable and resilient AI-supported cybersecurity capabilities.
